Oh, Honey…. Where did it start? Beekeeping began for both Nick and Lana a while back.

While still in high school Nick started helping a Vietnam Veteran and a local beekeeper. Nick’s love and appreciation for this hardworking insect was born. Nick has been keeping bees for more than 10 years and assisting other beekeepers off and on as his military service allowed for the last 30 years. His wife Lana grew up with bees, helping her dad with his beekeeping chores. After Nick’s retirement from the US Army they have been keeping bees together in Tennessee. Both are Tennessee Master Beekeepers.

Our apiaries

The Honey Bee Mine farm operates multiple small bee yards in Rutherford, Williamson, Wilson and Lincoln counties. Currently we produce raw, unfiltered, local honey and value added products made with honey for sale to the public and wholesale to retailers.

 Along with honey production, our goal is to strengthen the honeybee populations by introducing stronger, more disease resistant bees to the environment, and ensuring Tennessee has a sustainable apiculture program. Our apiary is working to become a well-known local producer, provider of beneficial pollinators for local farms, and mentor for local military veteran beekeepers while maximizing the value of hive products. The Honey Bee Mine seeks to increase awareness of the role bees play in the production of food, and the environment by educating those we interact with on the importance of these pollinators.
