Coming into hearing Mary Kutter's new EP, "180", I knew the songs would be stellar. Chances are if you're a country music listener, you've heard a Mary Kutter co-write in the last year- her name was on 32 releases in 2022. Her own cuts have been catchy, potent doses of pop country. I knew it was going to be good. What I wasn't expecting was the emotional uppercut of "Where The Horses Run". This lush, shimmering soundscape awash with jabs of baritone guitar sets the stage for Mary's mournful, nostalgic lyrics. If you close your eyes you can feel the dawn mist rolling over a crisp Kentucky morning. Mary's vocals have never sounded more powerful and dynamic; they nimbly dart up and down her register before landing on the money note. When she belts "It wasn't worth it"? Pure goosebumps. This song is an absolute showstopper. Fans of classic Shania Twain will love this song, and country music fans of all stripes will love "180".
