The fire of youth is often the one that burns hottest, and with just two decades under his belt Liam Coleman is coming in with a scorcher in "Wishing You". Combining the serpentine, arpeggiated guitar drone in the style of Alice In Chains with more classic structure akin to Johnny Cash in his opening verse, Liam manages to seamlessly merge the sounds of both eras and douse them with the venom they have in common. You can tell that the hurt was fresh and foreign when he felt it; the kind of pain that’s still sharp enough to cut deep, not yet dulled by a long history of heartache. His reaction is to hope that karma visits his ex swiftly and often. And in this instance? He makes spite look stylish. This is a track for anyone that loves a little bit of sadboi country with some edge, like Ernest if he made a grunge record. Liam might be wishing hell on his former paramour, but if he can keep making songs like this I'll be wishing for more.
