There's a little bit of rust belt and a little bit of Appalachia in Jeff Stempka's music, and that makes sense. A fellow Pittsburgh expat living in Nashville, there's a gruff but earnest steel town honesty to his new EP that really embodies his roots. When he sings lines like "It’s just the way you look at me when I’m drunk in the morning", you can tell the grey melancholy of "To The Bone" comes from a true, raw place. Jeff's plaintive tenor voice sings the story of man wrestling his demons... a story of imperfection and acceptance. If you're a fan of Zach Bryan or Ryan Adams this one may be for you... a heaping serving of Americana imagery, introspection, and a healthy balance of vulnerability and throwback machismo.
